Book: The Bario Revival

Introduction to the book:

One evening in October 1973 the Spirit of God fell unannounced upon a teacher and a group of young students in a village school in the extremely isolated and remote Bario Highlands of Sarawak, East Malaysia. The manifestation of the Spirit of God in revival power engulfed an entire, albeit small, indigenous group - the Kelabits - which had converted en masse from animism to Christianity only a few decades before. In the ensuing years , the Spirit of God spread in irresistibly powerful waves to other ethnic groups in the state. This brought about a phenomenal change in lives and the total transformation of whole communities. The revival fire ultimately resulted in the remarkable growth of the Sidang Injil Borneo (SIB) church.

This book, the first in this little-known true story, has first-hand eyewitness accounts of some of the events of the time, recollections of many witnesses and an analysis of the era and its aftermath. It fills a gap in the literature on Christian revivals in our local setting.
